Completed Sculpture

Here are a few photos of my latest. Now it's time to have it cast in bronze. The sculpture was modeled in water clay, but her right hand is in oil based clay to prevent the fingers from drying and breaking off.

New Photos

Here are some new photos of Yma after the 6th session. I had a great time working on the arms this evening. The model is very defined and took a lovely and expressive pose, which will be more apparent when I add the right hand.

Three Sculptures Delivered to Foundry

It's a big weight of my mind to have finally delivered these sculptures to the foundry. They've all been in progress for too long. It takes a great deal of diligence to maintain hydration while also controlling the mold...

Five Week Sculpture

I had only five weeks (15 hours) to complete this 1/3 life sized sculpture. The pose was quite complex as well. It's a bit rough around the edges, but provided a good challenge. Since it doesn't have any armature, it can also be fired.

Completed Bronze of "Amanda"

This sculpture was completed in mid February. I'm delighted that it sold last week although sad to see it go so soon!

Something New

I've started a new sculpture at the Gage reserved studio. These photos represent progress from a little under four sessions. Pretty soon, I'll need to decide what hairstyle will complement that attitude! Here are some new photos showing progress after seven sessions.

She has all of her parts now, but still needs some work on the head and extremities. Time permitting, I'm thinking of remodeling her right hand to hold an apple...

Week Three Progress

Here are a few photos of my latest WIP after 8.5 hours with the model. After blocking the figure I spent the last 5 or 10 minutes of the session starting to map in the face and hair. The next stage will be to finish the secondary forms and start with the tertiary level of detail. There are a lot of compound curves in this one which is always  fun!

A New Sculpture to Start the New Year

Here's a  23" tall sculpture that I started this evening. The image represents about 2.5 hours of progress.
